The Saint Leonard skatepark design was heavily influenced by the site. Being divided in two by the central green-space and varying elevations, creating two distinct zones made the most of it’s footprint. With the upper zone feeding down into the lower, it was clear that speed would be naturally generated with the aid of banks and transition. The elevation drop between the two zones also provided a great opportunity for street drops i.e. stairs. From there, we wanted to be sure to provide an open, technical flatground zone in the upper area, and a good mix of transition and banks with some unique features in the low zone. The central green-space dividing the two areas inspired the use of further planting within the skatepark itself.
